It’s that time of year again, the time of year that has been coming around every year for at least 18 years now.. Yes, that’s right, I’m talking about the well loved TV show, I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here. In this guide we’re going to show you how you can watch anywhere in the world.
One of the flagship reality TV programmes of the ITV line up, the show has been wowing viewer with its somewhat grotesque bug eating antics for years.
ITV being one of the original main terrestrial channels in the UK obviously has a huge following abroad, with both British expats and those around the world who enjoy viewing British TV, many who want to watch I’m a Celebrity abroad.
I’m a Celebrity starts on ITV and there has been a flood of British expats and other overseas viewers who have been trying to access ITV live online only to find that when visiting ITV Player that the site blocks you from viewing. The reason you’re blocked is because you’re not in the UK and the service is set to check where you are located and then deny access should it decide you’re out of the UK.
How to watch I’m a Celebrity online abroad
Without getting in to too much technical jargon, the website can tell you’re not in the UK by your internet connection, this means that there is nothing you can do on your browser or by changing any settings that will allow you to circumvent such checks.
However there is a product called a Virtual Private Network (VPN) that can secure your internet connection making it impossible for people to snoop on your connection, basically it secures your browsing and internet use so it can’t be intercepted.
A by-product of this system is it anonymises you and it does this by adding a third party in between your connection and the main internet disguising your true location.
Virtual Private Networks or a “VPN” using their shortened name are sold by plenty of different companies and cost around $5-$10 per month (Approx £3.20 – £6.40). You can pretty much give the impression you’re anywhere in the world depending on what “servers” the provider offers.
All of the providers listed in our VPN Comparison Guide offer servers in the United Kingdom, which is what is required to watch I’m a Celebrity abroad.
Three providers who we recommend for streaming video online due to the quality of their service are:
Both providers offer software and apps for most systems including PC, Mac, Android and iOS making the installation process extremely easy. For desktop systems you can download their software from their respective sites and for apps they’re available at the Google Play store and Apple Store.
Once you’ve signed up and installed their software, connect to a UK server and then simply head over to ITV Hub.
You’ll now be able to watch I’m a Celebrity abroad and not only that, but you’ll also be able to watch other ITV programs and shows on BBC iPlayer, 4OD and Demand 5 amongst others. All this from the one account that costs basically pocket change per month.
We wrote a quick guide on how to watch ITV Hub abroad a few months back which basically explains the same thing but in slightly more detail and with a helpful video to show you just how easy it is to achieve, so feel free to check out that article too if you need a little more inspiration.
