In this guide you'll discover how you can watch the Commonwealth Games 2018 from anywhere. Even if it's not available in your country you'll be able to watch in just 6-simple steps that will take no more than 5 minutes of your time.

The Commonwealth Games are back for 2018 and this year they're taking place on the Gold Coast in Australia.

While the Commonwealth Games might not be as big as the Olympics there are some very powerful sporting nations taking part so it's definitely one you won't want to miss.

Unfortunately depending what country you're in depends on what kind of TV coverage of the games you'll get. Some countries have great coverage, others have some coverage and many have no coverage at all.

Below you'll learn how you can watch the Commonwealth Games online from anywhere in the world.

Watch Commonwealth Games in the UK

The Commonwealth Games will be shown live online and on catch-up in the UK on the BBC iPlayer service. The BBC claims to have “comprehensive” coverage meaning nearly every event will be shown.

If you're in the UK then you can easily watch on your TV on BBC One and BBC Two. There will also be a selection of events on the Red Button and also the BBC Sport service which can be viewed online.

If you're not in the UK then you'll need the help of a VPN app which we explain below.

Watch Commonwealth Games outside the UK

If you're not in the UK then you can still watch all of the events on the UK's BBC iPlayer service but you'll need to get an app called a VPN to do this.

If you visit the BBC iPlayer service outside the UK you'll be blocked from watching but with a VPN you can change your online location so it appears that you are in the UK.

A VPN will cost you a few dollars (or pounds) per month and you'll only need a 1-month service to watch the entire Commonwealth Games.

Just follow the 6-step instructions below to watch the Commonwealth Games from anywhere in the world.

How to watch the Commonwealth Games online:

  1. Visit the VPN provider NordVPN by clicking here and sign-up to their service.
  2. Go to the VPN Apps section of the website and download the correct app for your device.
  3. Install the app and run it. Then login with the account details you created on sign-up.
  4. On the map select the United Kingdom and click on it.
  5. If it doesn't automatically connect, press the Connect button.
  6. Once it's connected visit the BBC iPlayer website.

Once you're on the BBC iPlayer website you'll be able to stream all of the Commonwealth Games events that are being shown.

When you've finished watching just press Disconnect on the NordVPN app.

You can reconnect again at any point and there are no limits on how many times you can connect while you've got an active subscription to the service.

This means you can watch as much Commonwealth Games coverage as you want!
