In this article we’ll take a look at VPN providers that offer a money back guarantee.
Choosing a VPN service has become increasingly hard in recent years and with so much choice you can often be left baffled by who to sign up to.
Unfortunately there is a mixed bag of VPN services out there. Some are excellent and some leave a lot to be desired. Telling these services apart is a difficult task because most providers have flashy websites and competitive prices.
One way to safeguard your money is to sign up to a provider that offers a money back guarantee. This will allow you to sign-up, test the service and if it isn’t as good as they led you to believe on their website then you can get a full refund within a specified time period.
Below I’ve listed a selection of VPN services that offer a money back guarantee and summed up some of the better options.
VPN providers that offer money back guarantee
IPVanish is the leader in the VPN industry and our highest scoring provider of all time.
It isn’t unwarranted praise either as IPVanish have continually shown themselves to be one of the fastest and most reliable providers.
A full 7-day money back guarantee is available which gives you more than enough time to try the service and if it’s not what you expected then you can get your money back.
Through our extensive testing it’s unlikely you’re going to want a refund but in the unlikely event that you do then you’ve got a whole week to test out the service.
IPVanish is suitable for Windows, Mac, Android and iOS and offer software and apps for all mentioned devices.
The monthly cost when taking an annual package is just US$6.49 which is approximately £5.30 and is competitive with other providers of similar quality.
Best VPN that offers a Money Back Guarantee
ExpressVPN may be a little more appealing than IPVanish if you’re looking for the maximum money back guarantee period.
A massive 30-day money back guarantee is available letting you use the service for around 1 month and if you’re not happy then you can get your money back.
It’s unlikely you’ll need the full 30-days to decide if ExpressVPN is right for you but it does give you that peace of mind that if the service deteriorated over the month then you could, in theory, get your money back.
ExpressVPN offers a good service and while not quite as good as IPVanish they are one of the better providers available.
The service is a little bit more expensive at US$8.32 per month when taking an annual account which is approximately £6.80.
StrongVPN offers one of the shorter money back guarantee lengths of only 5-days but in reality it should be plenty of time for you to test the service for your needs and see if it lives up to your expectations.
I find the Windows software on the StrongVPN service to be a little unfriendly but it does the job and helps you protect your connection. Thankfully the mobile apps are much better though.
The StrongVPN service is much smaller in terms of countries available than IPVanish and ExpressVPN so it’s important to consider if the available locations are suitable for your needs.
The good news is if you find them unsuitable then the money back guarantee will come in handy.
Overplay like StrongVPN have a money back guarantee period much smaller than some of the others on offer.
A 5-day money back guarantee is available which although isn’t the longest will be enough time for you to test the service for the majority of your uses.
Overplay is one of the fastest VPN services I’ve tested so if you’re after speed then they’re worth considering, however, IPVanish is slightly faster and offer a longer money back guarantee period so you may want to start there.
The beauty of the money back guarantee is you could in theory test both services and then get a refund on the one you prefer less.
VyprVPN is slightly different to the other options in that they don’t usually offer a money back guarantee.
Instead VyprVPN has opted to offer you a free trial which is available for 3-days.
This is a unique feature as most VPN providers don’t usually offer free trials so it may be something that takes your interest.
You will need to enter your payment details to take advantage of the free trial and as long as you’re happy with the service you don’t need to do anything as you will automatically be charged after the 3-days elapses.
If you’re unhappy with the service then you can simply cancel and as long as you do this before the 3-days are up then you won’t be charged anything.
VyprVPN is a little more expensive than the competition but if you’re after a free trial rather than a money back guarantee then they’re one of few providers who offer this service.
Summary: VPN providers that offer money back guarantee
Most reputable VPN providers now offer a money back guarantee and if you’re looking to sign up to a service not listed here that doesn’t offer a money back guarantee then you should question why.
As a VPN is a continuing service all providers want to you be happy on an ongoing basis which is why they offer such a guarantee.
You shouldn’t give too much thought about choosing a provider that offers a 7-day money back guarantee and one that offers a 30-day money back guarantee because the reality is that you will likely have more than made your mind up with 7-days and any negatives of the service will be evident.
IPVanish and ExpressVPN are two of my most recommended providers and due to the quality of service ones that you’re unlikely to need the money back guarantee but with a 7-day and 30-day guarantee respectively you have that safety net in the unlikely event that they don’t live up to your expectations.
So what are you waiting for? A money back guarantee means there is no risk. To recap the money back guarantee periods check the table below again.
