2. CyberGhost VPN

Cyberghost Website

Pros
  • Apps for most devices
  • Good streaming speeds
  • Dedicated Disney+ connections
  • 45-day money back guarantee
Cons
  • Hit and miss for streaming

Up second on our list of the best VPNs for streaming Disney Plus, we have CyberGhost VPN– another VPN with a massive server network, featuring over 9,288 optimized servers in more than 90 countries around the world.

This is another service known for blazing fast speeds packed with hundreds of streaming optimized servers, excellent security features, and 15 years of experience in the VPN industry.

Plus with their unlimited bandwidth and reliable connections, you can stream as many Disney movies as you want without restriction.

It is also known for its extremely long money-back guarantee, which lasts for 45 days. In comparison, the industry’s average is only 30 days.

This means that CyberGhost VPN gives you a month and a half to try out its service and change your mind at any time. Plus, it also lets you establish up to 7 simultaneous connections.

With features like this plus things like a kill switch and a built-in smart DNS feature, CyberGhost is easily among the best choices for watching Disney Plus, which is why it deserves its place on our list.

3. VyprVPN

VyprVPN

Pros
  • Good range of apps
  • Works with US Disney+
  • Suitable for beginners
  • Good streaming speeds
Cons
  • Not as reliable

The next on the list of best VPNs for Disney, we have VyprVPN – a service that has its optimized servers in 70 different countries around the world, and it offers thirty simultaneous connections.

VyprVPN is known for its prices, which are somewhat lower than the average ones of other industry-leading services, but also for its ability to unblock content in countries that the majority of VPNs do not cover.

Of course, with Disney+ being a US-based service, this is not the case. However, it is still worth knowing that VPN connections with VyprVPN could help you unblock a lot more foreign content.

It is rich with advanced security features, including a kill switch and Smart DNS, it is well known and respected for not keeping logs, protecting all VPN traffic with robust encryption, and has no recorded incidents of IP or DNS leaks.

It also offers a 30-day money-back guarantee, fast servers, and everything you need to stream Disney Plus where you are.

4. NordVPN

NordVPN Deal

Pros
  • Very good app suite
  • Good streaming speeds
  • 30-day money back guarantee
  • Lots of server locations
Cons
  • Not always the fastest

In the fourth spot, we have NordVPN, which is an extremely well-known and respected name in the VPN industry.

NordVPN is a good, cost-effective VPN that supports countless operating systems, including Smart TVs, making it an ideal VPN for watching Disney.

NordVPN’s server network is almost as vast as that of CyberGhost in terms of server count, with more than 5,000 servers in 50 different countries making accessing Disney Plus possible from almost anywhere.

The service is often used for unblocking other streaming platforms, too, even those that try to block VPN traffic like HBO Max and Amazon Prime Video. It works with all major streaming service providers thanks to its proven speeds and streaming-optimized servers.

NordVPN can also ensure near-total privacy and protect your actions even from your internet provider and it also offers six simultaneous connections with each account.

It offers a 30-day money-back guarantee, plus there are some massive savings to be made by subscribing to their lengthier plans. If you ever encounter any issues, this VPN features a live chat support that can help you solve any problem.

Definitely a good VPN to watch Disney Plus with.

5. IPVanish

IPVanish website

Pros
  • Apps for most devices
  • 30-day money back guarantee
  • Time tested service
Cons
  • Apps a little dated
  • Hit and miss streaming

Next, we have IPVanish, another popular service and one of the most affordable VPN providers, that particularly stands out when it comes to its anonymity and privacy features.

One of them, of course, is its ability to unblock Disney Plus, even on a smart TV, which makes it worthy of the place on the list of the best VPNs to watch Disney.

However, that does not reduce its capabilities when it comes to unblocking streaming content, and in our tests, we found their download speeds to be quicker than many other providers making them ideal to start streaming Disney content.

IPVanish also stands out thanks to the fact that it allows you to have unlimited simultaneous connections, meaning that no matter how large your Disney+ loving family is, every member can stream the Disney content they want without limits.

Their network of locations is smaller than the others, but it covers all Disney+ regions making IPVanish another great VPN to watch Disney Plus with. Like most other providers, they offer a 30-day money back guarantee too.

6. Surfshark

Surfshark Website screengrab

Pros
  • Very reliable
  • Apps easy to use
  • 30-day money back guarantee
Cons
  • Newer provider

Another good choice of a premium VPN for Disney Plus is Surfshark, a very reliable VPN from the British Virgin Islands.

This is one of the best VPN services for unblocking streaming platforms such as Disney Plus, but also BBC iPlayer, Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, HBO Max, and more.

It offers unlimited bandwidth, but it is best known for its unlimited simultaneous connections, meaning that you can secure as many streaming device options at once as you wish. In other words, it is a terrific VPN to watch Disney Plus on.

It works on numerous different devices, including Smart TVs such as Apple TV, as well as on any Android device, Fire TV, iOS devices, Windows, Linux, Mac, and more.

It has very fast speeds, which is great for HD streaming, and it is rich with security features, like split tunneling, a kill switch, DNS leaks protection, encryption, security protocols, and more.

One negative to note is that it has a bit slow customer service, although it is easy enough to use, so you might not even need to contact customer support for any help. Payment is simple too with a range of foreign payment method options available.

If you want to stream Disney Plus wth a VPN, Surfshark VPN is another good option.

How we tested and ranked the services

Finding a VPN for use with Disney Plus requires hours of testing to see, firstly, if the service works and, secondly, how good it is.

We carefully reviewed all major providers and sought specific features that would truly make them a reliable choice for anyone wishing to watch Disney Plus from abroad.

Here are some of the key requirements that VPNs needed to fulfill.

Naturally, it would make little sense to recommend a VPN for Disney Plus if it doesn’t let you actually watch Disney Plus. So, the first requirement was for the VPNs to work with the service, as well as other streaming sites, if possible.

As you may know, not every VPN can unblock Disney, as major streaming services continuously block VPN IP addresses in order to prevent people from other countries from accessing them.

In fact, only a few VPN providers can access Disney Plus, BBC iPlayer, and similar services. This is because they mask their IP addresses and prevent them from standing out.

This is why it is not easy to find the best VPNs for Disney, but it is still possible, and the services on this list all have a large server network and can provide easy access, split tunneling, and other features that can improve your experience.

Streaming content online requires relatively fast speeds.

However, VPNs tend to slow down your internet connection while applying their security features and protective technologies. This is why it was imperative to choose a VPN for Disney Plus that will have the least amount of impact.

Such services not only allow you to access Disney Plus from abroad via their VPN servers, but they also let you stream in 4K, all the while maintaining private internet access.

Since different VPNs offer different streaming speeds, we had to combine this feature with the others on this list to ensure that we are really recommending only the most reliable VPN providers.

Also, note that split tunneling can be helpful here, as it can improve speeds when watching Disney Plus by having fewer apps supported.

Disney Plus can be accessed from a variety of streaming devices, including TVs, mobile devices, and, of course, computers, laptops, tablets, and more. However, if you already need a VPN to access it, you must make sure that this VPN has dedicated apps for your devices of choice.

That way, if you wish to watch Disney Plus on mobile, you can watch it even on the go.

If you want to watch on your Fire TV, you need to pick a VPN that supports it. And, if you want to watch Disney Plus on the computer, you need a VPN that has a desktop app or at least a browser extension.

Some services have many VPN apps for different devices, while others have only a few, so choose wisely.

Why you need a VPN for Disney+

Now, you might be wondering why you need a VPN for Disney+ in the first place.

While there is no inherent reason, there are several benefits when doing so, as I will explain below.

The first thing that you want to use the best VPN for Disney for is to avoid ISP throttling.

If you are not familiar with what this is, basically, it is your Internet Service Provider (ISP) reducing your internet speed if they believe that you use too much of their resources on specific actions.

ISPs are known to do this to those who engage in torrenting, online gaming, as well as streaming, and similar activities.

Snail on top of a download bar

Reducing your speed could impact the quality of your Disney+ streams and cause other issues like buffering. A VPN will help you avoid such situations.

As you are likely aware, Disney+ is extremely popular these days.

Millions of people use their service, and it’s only going to get more popular.

This can often lead to specific routes between you and the service being slow and overcrowded meaning you might experience difficulties when it comes to streaming quality, often in terms of buffering or getting reduced picture quality.

A VPN can allow you to take the ‘toll route’ and watch Disney Plus without these interruptions.

Disney+ has another flaw to it, and that is the fact that it is not available everywhere.

So, if you’re a traveller who might have to leave your country temporarily or on a more permanent basis, you might not be able to watch Disney Plus.

With a VPN, you can easily connect back to your home country and unblock Disney.

Watch your favourite shows anywhere

Disney Plus doesn’t allow users in different countries to access all of its content.

This is why even people in countries where Disney Plus is available can benefit from using a VPN, as you don’t have access to the same content as you would if you were to connect to the US VPN server.

Fortunately, all mentioned VPNs have many VPN servers located in countries all over the world. So, even if you can’t find the content that you want on the server you are currently connected to, chances are that you can find it if you connect to some other server.

With that in mind, VPN users should choose a VPN that not only has US servers, but also one that covers as many other countries as possible.

What free VPN works with Disney plus?

Unfortunately, none. This is a common issue that every free VPN provider suffers from. It is also why you have to go to premium VPNs if you want to access Disney Plus.

The thing with free VPNs is that they are free. This means that the free VPN doesn’t receive money from its users, which is necessary to pay for the development or purchase of advanced technologies that mask IP addresses and make the VPN invisible to streaming sites like Disney Plus.

Free VPNs can only earn money from advertisers or from selling user data, both of which are major red flags, and that money is being used for paying for servers and existing services.

Every free VPN you can find has only a handful of servers, and every VPN server that they have is extremely overcrowded and has slow speeds. So, if you want the best VPNs for Disney Plus, premium services like the six listed above are your only option.

Not to mention that many of these free VPN services can be malicious, which could cost you a lot more than paying for a proper VPN.

So, to summarize, free VPNs:

  • Have a low server count
  • Are slow
  • Often get blocked by streaming sites
  • Can be malicious
  • Don’t offer private internet access
  • Will likely bombard you with advertisements
  • Don’t have live chat support
  • Don’t offer dedicated apps (likely only a browser extension)
  • Lack advanced features like Smart DNS
  • Are not the best VPNs for Disney plus or any other streaming platform

Is it illegal to use a VPN for Disney plus?

Fortunately no, using a VPN is not illegal, even when it comes to something like using it to access Disney Plus content, or other streaming services, like BBC iPlayer.

It is still possible for it to be against Disney’s terms and conditions, and if that is the case, there could be consequences if you get caught using a VPN to unblock Disney Plus.

However, there have been no known cases of a VPN user getting banned for trying to watch Disney Plus content from other countries.

Instead, chances are that Disney Plus would go after your VPN rather than you. After all, you are a paying customer, and banning you would not be beneficial for the service.

Can I access in other countries using a VPN?

The answer to this question is not as straightforward as a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no.’

As mentioned before, a VPN can allow you to access Disney+ from foreign countries, which is good news if you live in a region that has access to it, but decide to travel abroad.

However, if you live in a region that is not supported by the service, you likely won’t be able to create your account.

You see, to complete your sign-up, you also have to provide payment details, and these details will reveal your real location, which will likely prevent you from completing the account creation process.

There may be ways around this, but we don’t recommend or support them.

What’s available on Disney+?

Disney+ is an excellent service with an excessive amount of content. A lot of which used to be available on services like Netflix but will no longer be.

At this time, it features almost 500 films, 15,000 TV show episodes, and more than 80 Disney Plus Originals which will provide you with thousands of hours of fun content.

One of the most exciting shows on the service was The Mandalorian, a Star Wars-based eight-episode series that takes place five years following the events of the Return of the Jedi.

This is also 25 years before the latest trilogy’s first episode, The Force Awakens.

Quote

Frank Pallotta of CNN highlighted not only the wealth of content but the quality saying “For example, the original Star Wars films, which will be available at launch, will be streamed in 4K, a video resolution also known as “Ultra HD.” [3]

The show focuses on a bounty hunter with no clear allegiances.

Other than The Mandalorian, the service also features the rest of Star Wars films, as well as Marvel movies that have been the centre of attention in the past decade.

There are also other shows, such as The Imagineering Story, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, SparkShorts, Gravity Falls, Phineas and Ferb, X-Men: The Animated Series, and many others.

How to pay for Disney+ overseas

While connecting to a US server will grant you access to Disney Plus, actually watching Disney Plus content will require a Disney+ subscription, and that is something that VPN cannot help you with.

Even the best VPNs for Disney Plus cannot hide the fact that your bank account comes from a country where Disney Plus is not supported, so the way for you to subscribe is to use a foreign payment method.

However, since this is not something that most people can do, they will need some alternatives. There are other ways – two of them, to be exact.

1) Using Apple ID

The first method is to subscribe to Disney+ with an Apple ID. This can only work for people who are Apple users, and have either an iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV. Here is what you need to do:

  1. Open the Apple App Store.
  2. Log out of your account.
  3. Scroll down to the bottom.
  4. Find the flag icon and select the US.
  5. Create a new Apple ID (Important: Do NOT add a payment method).
  6. Buy digital iTunes gift cards, but keep in mind that they must be loaded with USD. You can get them on Amazon, with the lowest amount being $25. It might be worth considering getting a yearly Disney+ subscription, which is around $70.
  7. Your code will arrive at your email address, after which you can redeem it at the Account Settings page.
  8. Now, use your VPN to connect to a US server
  9. Download Disney+ app if you don’t already have it.
  10. Register on Disney+ with your VPN activated, and use your iTunes balance to pay for the subscription.
  11. You can now watch Disney+ on any device, such as Apple TV, iPhone, or iPad.

The first method is not very complicated. But, since it is only for Apple device users, it will not work for those who use Android.

Fortunately, we have a separate method for them, which will only require an Android device and access to Google Play Store.

2) Using Google Account

  1. For this method, start by using your best VPN for Disney and connect to a server in the US.
  2. Next, go to Google Play Store.
  3. Create a new account within the Play Store, but don’t log in just yet.
  4. Buy a Google Play gift card from Amazon. Note that, just like Apple users, yours must also be filled with USD.
  5. The gift code will arrive via email, and you can either click the link that arrives or enter the code into the Google Play Store manually. This will allow you to redeem it and fund your account.
  6. Another thing to note is that you will have to enter a valid US ZIP code in order to proceed, but don’t worry, Google is not going to try and verify it.
  7. Next, go to your Android device’s Settings, and proceed to Accounts.
  8. Once there, tap ‘Add Account,’ and then Google.
  9. Now, you simply add the new Google Play Store account you created a few steps before.
  10. After that, go to the Play Store and sign into your new account for the first time.
  11. Next, you can install the Disney Plus app if you don’t already have it, and sign up with this new account.
  12. Pay for the subscription via your Google account balance, and you are done.

Summary

Disney’s streaming service, Disney+, has attracted the attention of the entire world.

Unfortunately, it is only available in a handful of countries right now, and if you’ve managed to sign up, you may still be experiencing issues.

If you’re planning on travelling abroad anytime soon, then you’ll also be blocked from accessing your Disney Plus account.

Solving these issues and more is a VPN app.

I recommend using ExpressVPN because our testing has found them to be the most reliable allowing you to avoid buffering and use your account anywhere.

You also get more for your money.

All that’s left to do is sign up, download their app, connect to the country of your choice and enjoy an enhanced and unrestricted Disney experience.

The only other question is, what will you binge first?
