VPN.ac launch dedicated Amazon Fire TV VPN app

Amazon Fire TV Stick

VPN.ac this week announced their entry into the Amazon app market launching the very first edition of their dedicated Amazon VPN app.

The app is suitable for use on both the Amazon Fire TV and Amazon Fire TV Stick (Gen 2) plus any other compatible Amazon devices.

The Amazon VPN app which is currently in beta has quickly received updates and had fixes deployed in successive versions released to address any initial issues.

Amazon VPN app

VPN apps for Amazon devices, namely the Fire TV and Fire TV Stick (Gen 2) are seriously lacking and VPN.ac has become one of very few to launch a dedicated app.

The Amazon Fire TV devices are based on Android and so in theory any Android VPN app should work as standard on either Amazon device.

However, this is not the case and although the majority of VPN provider Android apps will install and launch on both the Fire TV and Fire TV Stick most fail to be of use due to the interfaces being unable to be navigated.

Kodi leads to VPN interest

With thousands of Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick owners using the devices solely for Kodi,25 it has led to increased interest in VPN services that offer dedicated apps.

Many Kodi users are worried about their viewing privacy and wish to protect what they watch from prying eyes.

It goes without saying that the continued blocking of websites or services that enable access to streaming content on Kodi enabled Amazon devices is a huge driver in VPN demand.
