What you need to watch

Love Island will again be broadcast on ITV2 this year. It will also be streamed live and on-demand through the ITVX streaming service.

However, if you try to tune into ITVX from outside the UK, you will find it blocked. This is because ITV uses geo-blocking technology to stop people outside the UK from watching their shows.

Don’t worry. You can easily get around this with a VPN.

ExpressVPN is the best for the job thanks to its fast speeds, great privacy protection, and huge server network.

If you don’t like the cut of their jib, NordVPN and Surfshark can also do the job.

How does a VPN work

A VPN works by redirecting all of your online data down an encrypted tunnel and through an external server. This helps to keep all user data private and also masks a user’s IP Address, making them more secure online.

When the data passes through a VPN server it is tagged with another IP address. If this server is in another country, that IP Address will tell sites the user is there too.

This means if you connect to a British server from overseas, ITVX will think you are in the UK and so let you watch Love Island.

Is it even legal?

Yes. VPNs are completely legal in all but a handful of authoritarian countries like China and Russia.

They are primarily an online privacy and security tool and are recommended by many online security experts. Unblocking TV channels and streaming services is nothing more than a very useful side feature.

Summary

Love Island promises to be a highlight of the summer TV schedule. You won’t want to miss a second and thanks to a VPN like ExpressVPN, you won’t have to.

Just connect your VPN to a UK-based server, visit the ITVX, and you’re away.

So settle back, fire up your VPN, and get ready for all the gossip, flirtation, and back-stabbing that makes Love Island such unmissable TV.
