How to watch X Factor 2017 abroad UK edition

How to watch X Factor abroad

X Factor is back for 2017 and if you find yourself abroad you need this guide. Below we’re going to show you the extremely simple way you can watch all the X Factor action live or on catch-up TV while you’re abroad.

X Factor is being shown on ITV but if you’ve already tried to access the ITV Player website while outside the UK then you’ll know you’re blocked from viewing.

All you’re going to need to unblock this is an app called a VPN that will let you watch on a mobile, tablet, laptop or even a traditional desktop. Just follow the instructions below.

How to watch X Factor 2017 abroad

The best way to watch X Factor abroad is to use ITV Player, the online streaming service from ITV.

If you try to watch directly by visiting the site and you’re outside the UK you’ll be blocked with a message that looks something a bit like this:

ITV Block Abroad

To unblock this you’ll need to get yourself an app called a VPN.

Below we show you how.

How to watch X Factor 2017 abroad:

  1. Head over to the IPVanish website and click Start Now.
  2. Select a subscription length and complete the sign-up process. (Don’t worry there’s a 7-day money back guarantee)
  3. Go back to the main IPVanish website and select Apps. Download the correct app for your device.
  4. Install it, run it and login when required.
  5. Select United Kingdom, Press Connect.

It takes no longer than around 25 seconds for the IPVanish app to connect.

Once it has connected any websites that you visit will think you’re in the UK. All that is left to do now is to visit the ITV Player website.

Instead of being blocked like earlier you’ll now be able to watch the X Factor each week both live and on the catch-up service.

If you think it’ll be too hard or you’re still struggling take a look at the example images below which show you the easy steps to getting connected on both a mobile device and a regular computer.

Mobile / Tablet:

IPVanish Android UK

Android App.

Desktop / Laptop:

IPVanish UK Server

Windows Software.

Once you’ve finished watching X Factor all you need to do is press Disconnect on the IPVanish app.

You can reconnect at any time as long as you have an active subscription to IPVanish which means you can watch every week live or on the catch-up service if you miss the X Factor.

Alternative VPN Providers

A VPN service will allow you to watch the X Factor abroad but their original purpose is to protect your privacy online.

With there being many privacy issues online it means there is a whole host of companies offering VPN services.

We recommend IPVanish because they’re one of the easiest to use and they’re also one of the fastest which means you’re unlikely to suffer any buffering which would ruin your viewing enjoyment.

If you’ve got time on your hands and you want to look for an alternative VPN provider then our VPN Comparison Guide is a good place to start that compares up to 20 different leading VPN services.

Three more extremely good services we recommend are:

Just click on one of their names and sign-up. The apps will look a bit different to the IPVanish one but they work the same.

About X Factor 2017

X Factor 2017 starts on September 2nd and promises to be a mix of amazing singers and downright disasters, no less than any other year.

You can tune in from 8 pm most Saturdays and Sundays with your VPN service no matter where you are in the world.

If you miss the live airing then you can also watch on catch-up TV with the same VPN service at a later date.

For the first time in over 7 years the judging panel is the same as last year and if you watched the 2016 X Factor then you’ll know that Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne, Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger made for some entertaining viewing.

There’s a whole host of changes this year aimed at making the show more exciting. The live shows have been cut from the tedious 10 to just 6 with contestants being booted off on both Saturday and Sunday.

Amongst the other changes are the axing of spin-off show the Xtra Factor and no return of the controversial Jukebox Wheel.

This year promises to be as exciting as ever, just grab yourself a VPN using the link below and sign-up, then follow the instructions from earlier in this guide.
