How to watch the X Factor 2015 abroad

Love it or hate it the X Factor is back. Although TV talent shows are seeing somewhat of a decline in viewing figures, X Factor often bucks the trend and sees a loyal following tuning in year after year.

If you’re one of those loyal fans or have a partner or kids who can’t bare missing the X Factor then being abroad can be a bit of a nightmare. Although not a fan myself I do know how it feels if you’ve got a favourite show and are out of the UK on holiday, for work or for any other number of reasons and you can’t access your favourite show.

Like usual X Factor is shown on ITV and this year the auditions kick off at 8pm BST on Saturday 29th August 2015.

The 12th series of X Factor rings in some new changes with new judges Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw taking the judging hot seats. A few other changes see Dermot O’Leary being bid farewell to be replaced by Olly Murs and Caroline Flack as well as production changes such as allowing backing dancers in auditions.

So you’re probably wondering how you can watch the X Factor 2015 abroad so keep reading and I’ll show you.

How to watch the X Factor 2015 abroad

X Factor 2015 will be shown on ITV Player live or if you miss it on their catch-up service. Unfortunately ITV Player is only available in the UK so if you try to watch while you’re abroad you’ll be blocked with a message similar to the one below.

ITV Player Blocked Example

So if you want to watch X Factor 2015 abroad then you need a way of pretending you’re in the UK thus bypassing the above block message.

The simple solution is a service known as a VPN. A VPN is a tool that protects your privacy and one of the features of that is it allows you to give the impression you’re in a different country than the one you are in.

So let’s say for example you are in Spain, you get a VPN service and pretend you’re in the UK, the X Factor will then play live or on catch-up on ITV Player.

Simple! I’ll show you below where to get a VPN service and how to use it to watch the X Factor 2015 abroad.

The best VPN to watch the X Factor

The first thing you need to know is that VPN services cost money but don’t panic, they are really cheap and only cost a few pounds per month. If you’re on holiday or away for a few weeks only then you’ll only need a 1 month service but if you’re away longer you can sign up for 6 months and 12 month packages that are even cheaper.

There are loads of different VPN providers out there now and like most things in life some are good and some are let’s say, not so good. If like me you don’t have time to be wading through the bad ones or don’t even know where to start then I’ve put together a list of three of the best VPN providers and all will be suitable for watching the X Factor abroad.

Just click on one of the names below to visit their site and get signed up.

  1. IPVanish
  2. ExpressVPN
  3. VyprVPN
