If you’ve heard of Kodi then you’ve probably heard it’s a great new way to get access to TV content, Sports, Movies and a whole lot more. However, installing Kodi can be a daunting prospect.
The reality is it’s really simple and no matter what your technical skill is (or isn’t!) I’ll show you in this guide the simple steps to set up Kodi on a Windows PC so you can be up and running within no time at all.
How to install Kodi on Windows
First off you need to download the installation files for Kodi from the official Kodi website. It’s important to visit this website directly so you know you’re getting the official product.
1 ) In your web browser enter the following URL or click the link here : https://kodi.tv/download/
Scroll down the page until you see the “Current Release” section.
Click “Installer” under the Windows logo as highlighted in red in the image below.
2 ) A file request window will appear asking you where you wish to save the file. A good location is the Desktop but you can save it anywhere you choose.
3 ) Once the file has downloaded you should double-click on it to start the installation process.
You’ll be asked if you want to allow the app to make changes to the computer. You can press Yes. This is just a standard security question.
4 ) On the first screen press Next.
5) Press I Agree.
6) Press Next.
7) You can change the location of the install if you wish but it’s best to leave it as standard. Press Next.
8) Press Install.
The installation process will now take place.
9) Press Finish.
Installation of Kodi on Windows is now complete, see I told you it was easy, didn’t I?
How to use Kodi
Now Kodi is installed you will have a new icon on your desktop.
Double-click this icon to run Kodi.
Kodi will now open in a new window on your desktop.
You’re now free to browse Kodi, watch content, install add-ons and everything else that has made Kodi one of the most popular streaming solutions in 2017.
Access blocked content on Kodi and protect your privacy.
Kodi is a great way to stream content from all over the world but sometimes that content is blocked.
There are numerous reasons why certain content is blocked on Kodi ranging from geo-blocking issues to all other manners of reasons.
What you watch on Kodi should remain private and to do this you’ll need to add a VPN service to your list of tools.
A VPN will allow you to protect your privacy while you stream on Kodi which means that no one will be able to know what you’re watching or who is watching what. With a VPN your connection becomes 100% encrypted. You can see a list of all the best VPNs for Windows here
A VPN will also allow you to bypass geographical restrictions. Certain add-ons such as BBC iPlayer require you to be in the UK to stream the content and if you’re not in the UK then you’re blocked from viewing.
When using a VPN you can make it appear as if you are in the UK or any other country for that matter so instead of being blocked from viewing you’ll be able to stream freely.
On top of that you’ll be able to access a whole host of content that is blocked for many other reasons.
To get yourself a VPN you should sign up to IPVanish. They have VPN software for Windows and a host of other systems that allows you to run it in the background when using Kodi and access all the blocked content.
Once you’ve signed up just download the IPVanish software, connect to the required location and away you go! You’re now able to access blocked content and protect your privacy at the same time.
But isn’t Kodi illegal?
Kodi has got a bit of a bad reputation in recent years as the number one source of illegal content.
While it’s true that Kodi can allow access to movies, sporting events and everything else for free but against the law, it isn’t its intended purpose and without installing special add-ons then nothing about the original product is illegal.
If you want to stay on the right side of the law then there are numerous add-ons that allow you to access completely legal content so it’s really down to yourself and your own morals on how you make Kodi work for you.
