September saw the launch of some pretty funky new apps from leading VPN provider IPVanish and if you’ve been want to take a look at their mobile offering we’ve got just the guide for you.
Both their desktop clients and mobile apps have been completely overhauled and are now more easy to use and look a whole lot better than the last versions.
In this article I’m going to show you step-by-step the simple process of installing and using the new Android app from IPVanish.
So let’s find out where to get it, how to install it and see how easy it is to use.
How to install IPVanish v3 on an Android device
First you’ll need a VPN package from IPVanish to use on your Android device. You can get one by visiting their website and clicking Start Now.
You’ll now have three options. You can subscribe for 1-Month, 3-Months or 1-Year.
The longer you subscribe for the cheaper the package. For example, 1-Month will cost you US$10 (approx £8.20) every month whereas a yearly package works out at just US$6.49 per month (approx £5.32).
Once signed up you’ll be provided with a login and password.
Next, visit the Google Play store on the Android device you want to use the IPVanish VPN service on and search for “IPVanish”.
Click on IPVanish VPN.
Click Install and let the installation process take place.
Once installed click the Open button or launch the app from your apps area.
Enter your Username and Password and tick Remember Me. Then press Login.
Press either Begin Tutorial to see how the app works or Skip to enter the main app.
On the main screen click on Country to open the country selector section.
You can now choose a country of your choice.
Once selected it will return the main screen. Here you can simply press the Connect button to start the connection process. You may need to confirm to allow IPVanish to make connection, press OK if asked.
The app will now take care of the connection process for you and once connected inform you of the fact.
You can now press the Home button on your Android device and leave the app running. In the notification bar you will notice a small key symbol which means your connection is now secure.
You can now browse the internet or access apps privately safe in the knowledge that your connection is secure. If you want to access geo-restricted content then you’ll also be able to launch most apps and access content that was previously blocked.
To disconnect simply launch the IPVanish app and click the Disconnect button.
There are further options available by pressing the extended menu button which is located in the top left hand corner and looks like three lines on top of each other.
Here you can edit settings but you can also search for country locations and direct servers in locations of your choice.
That’s all there is to it. It’s really simple but if you get stuck you can contact IPVanish directly via their website or post a message in the comments section below and we’ll be glad to help.
