But, we understand that sometimes, things don’t work out.
Your reasons are your own, and they do not matter.
What matters is that ExpressVPN has a 30-day money-back guarantee, and you can get a refund with no questions asked if you are still within the 30 days.

So before you cancel, it might be worth a second look.
If there is an issue with the service, don’t give up just yet. Instead, you can try to resolve it:

There may be a simple fix to any issues you’re experiencing.

On the ExpressVPN website click ‘Support‘, scroll down and click ‘Open feedback form‘.
Alternatively, you can use your regular email client and drop customer service an email to support@expressvpn.com.
If you still wish to cancel, however, then read on and let’s get to what you must do.
How to get a refund from ExpressVPN
The first thing to note is that the ExpressVPN app will let you do a lot, but not cancel your subscription.
To do it, you have to go to their website, and follow these few steps:
Step 1
Go to expressvpn.com click ‘My Account‘ sign in to your existing account with your email address and password.
Step 2
Click the ‘Support‘ option.
Step 3
Press ‘Open feedback form‘. Enter the required details and let ExpressVPN know you wish to cancel and get a refund.
That’s all there is to it. You’ll shortly be getting your money back!
How to cancel your subscription over 30 days
If you’ve passed thirty days, it’s still possible to cancel your ExpressVPN subscription, so you don’t get billed again at your next expiration date. There may be some additional steps depending on your payment method.
Here’s what you need to do.
Step 1
Go to expressvpn.com click ‘My Account‘ sign into your existing account.
Step 2
On the left, you will see a panel with a ‘Subscription‘ section.
This is where details such as date of renewal and total subscription length are displayed.
Step 3
On the panel, you will also find ‘Manage settings‘ link, and by clicking on it, you will be sent to the Automatic Renewal Settings page. Once there, click on ‘Turn off automatic renewal‘, and confirm that this is what you wish to do.
Step 4
Finally, you should get a message that Automatic Renewal is turned off.
Now, this solution works for PayPal and credit card users, where PayPal users also need to cancel PayPal’s IPN, as well.
If you paid with Paymentwall or BitPay, however, the subscription will end automatically once the time runs out.
How long do I have to get my money back?
The thing with the money-back guarantee of ExpressVPN is that it lasts for 30 days.
You cannot get a 12-month plan and expect to get your money back after seven months of using the VPN. Only works within 30 days.
This is one of the most extended money-back guarantees in the VPN industry, and it gives you more than enough time.
You can get your money back quickly enough, only by contacting the customer support and explaining what you want. Before that, once again, try to resolve any existing issues, but if you are still not happy, talk to them, and they will see you get your funds back.
What to do after you get your money back?
If things did not work out with ExpressVPN, that is a shame, but you should not allow that to prevent you from using other VPN services.
VPNs are needed these days, and being without one will leave you without protection and extra benefits.
You might want to use your refund for checking out another service, like NordVPN, or IPVanish.
NordVPN also features a 30-day money-back guarantee, which makes it a pretty safe option to explore. IPVanish only has 7-day money-back guarantee, so you should be careful there.
Summary
VPNs are highly useful, efficient, and practical tools.
However, they don’t always work out for everyone, and sometimes there are even some issues with a VPN itself.
Things like that don’t often happen with ExpressVPN, and as we’ve already discussed they’re one of our favourite options, but it’s possible that may not be your experience.
If you run into one such problem or decide to end your subscription for another reason, you can be safe in the knowledge that you can get a full refund with 30 days of signing up.
