Best VPN for Facebook

Best VPN for Facebook

Finding a good VPN for Facebook isn’t actually all that difficult. The fact is nearly all VPN providers are suitable for Facebook.

However, although finding a VPN provider that works with Facebook is relatively easy there are some important considerations.

Although there are plenty of VPN providers out there and a quick search on Google will confirm that one very important thing to remember is not all VPN providers are created equally.

While most cost around the same price there is a huge difference in the number of servers available and even the speeds achieved when using the service. The difference between a slow Facebook and a fast one can be huge.

I’ve been taking a look at a range of providers to find the best VPN for Facebook and Facebook Messenger and put together a list of my top 5 below.

If you want to access Facebook at school, university, in a country it’s blocked in or for any other reasons via a VPN then the following options will be suitable.

1. IPVanish

IPVanish Small Logo

IPVanish is my favourite provider when it comes to accessing Facebook for many different reasons.

The first is the amount of server choice. IPVanish offer servers in over 60 different countries and have servers in multiple cities in many countries. This means if Facebook is blocked in your country then you’ll easily find another country nearby that will allow you to access.

China blocks Facebook on a permanent basis and countries such as Turkey and Thailand are known to block it at times of unrest. With so many different VPN server locations you’ll be able to access Facebook at all times.

If you want to access Facebook on a network that it’s blocked on such as school or work then the range of three VPN protocols including PPTP, L2TP and OpenVPN will ensure you can bypass any blocks.

An additional OpenVPN Scramble option is available so even on strict networks that can detect OpenVPN connections you’ll be able to disguise your VPN connection and access Facebook freely.

IPVanish has software for PC and Mac and apps for Android and iOS so regardless what device you want to access Facebook or Facebook Messenger on their easy to use range of software and apps will have you up and running in no time.

2. ExpressVPN

ExpressVPN Small Logo

ExpressVPN makes another good choice for accessing Facebook.

They’re not quite as cheap as IPVanish which is one of the main things that let their service down but for just a few dollars more per month they do offer an equally good service.

ExpressVPN have servers in over 87 countries making them a slightly larger VPN provider than IPVanish which goes someway to explain the higher price tag. If you live in or near one of the additional 27 countries offered then you may get slightly faster speeds so it would be worth considering.

Like IPVanish, ExpressVPN offers software for Windows and Mac computers and also apps for Android and iOS. In addition to this, there is also software for some Linux distros and routers available which will make connection easy regardless of what system you use.

An additional VPN protocol SSTP is available along with the standard PPTP, L2TP and OpenVPN so regardless of what type of firewall you’re trying to bypass then you should be able to easily access Facebook anywhere.

ExpressVPN offers a huge 30-day money back guarantee so you can test Facebook on multiple systems for up to a month to ensure it’s working for you and if not then simply get your money back.

3. StrongVPN

StrongVPN Small Logo

StrongVPN is one of the cheapest VPN providers available which make them suitable if you’re on a budget and looking for the best possible price.

One of the downsides is they only have 20 countries available to connect to. Although many of the major locations in North America and Europe are covered further afield they are lacking a little so if you want to access Facebook in Asia, Africa or South America then you’ll need to check they have a server near enough to you so that speeds are suitable.

The software isn’t the best from StrongVPN and I much prefer the earlier two options, however, it does do the job of getting you connected and once secure you’ll be able to freely access Facebook without any worry.

Speeds are good using StrongVPN so if their country selection is suitable then you’ll definitely get positive speed results when accessing Facebook or Messenger as well as other services.

If price is your major concern then you’ll save a few dollars per month over the earlier options but if you want a better service at a good price then I recommend sticking with IPVanish.

4. Overplay

Overplay Small Logo

Overplay are a service that has improved considerably over the past year and are well worth taking a look at if you want to unblock Facebook.

One of the biggest disadvantages of the service is they don’t currently have any apps for mobile devices so if you want to use on an Android or iOS tablet or phone then you’ll need to set it up manually. Apps are currently in the works but as of the date of this article they weren’t available.

My favourite feature of the Overplay service is their speeds. In the past year their speeds have massively increased making them one of the fastest services I’ve used.

Overplay have servers in over 42 different countries making them one of the larger providers ensuring that no matter where you are in the world there should be a country close enough that you’ll get good speeds for accessing Facebook.

The price of Overplay seems a little expensive considering IPVanish offers more for less but if there are features of the Overplay service that you prefer then they’re definitely worth checking out.

5. VyprVPN

VyprVPN Small Logo

VyprVPN round up my selection for Best VPN for Facebook and Facebook Messenger.

VyprVPN has plenty of servers which is one of the best features of their service with 50 different countries covered and over 700 servers.

One reason to consider VyprVPN is they offer a free 3-day trial. You will need to enter payment details but if you cancel before the 3 days elapse then you won’t be charged at all.

This allows you to test the service with Facebook to make sure it works and if not then you can simply cancel without the hassle of requesting a refund.

The basic package from VyprVPN isn’t worthwhile looking at because it only offers the one insecure PPTP protocol so you’ll need to look to the mid or higher tier packages if you want to defeat firewalls blocking you from accessing Facebook.

A full suite of software and apps are available so you’ll be able to use the service with any device.

Best VPN for Facebook: Summary

Ultimately any of the providers above will be suitable for unblocking Facebook and accessing it securely.

My best VPN for Facebook is definitely IPVanish because they offer the most service at the most reasonable price and currently although the other providers also offer good services they are lacking in one or two areas that IPVanish cover.

It’s worth taking a look at all 5 providers as you may find certain features more suitable to your needs but if you’re in a rush then I recommend you take a look at IPVanish as you won’t be disappointed.
